Our Story

Hi I'm Monica, the founder of K9 Krew & Friends!

I’m a mum to 2 teenagers, 2 Siamese cats and 3 small dogs, two Chihuahuas and a cheeky Pomchi.

My whole life I've loved & been surrounded by animals, I guess this was from my grandad who I grew up with!

When I was a child, my grandma always had at least 2 dogs at any one time in our home, my grandad would always keep rescue dogs at his business and then would also feed the local stray dogs and cats there. In the countryside 30 mins from the town we lived in, we  also had a little homestead where we had all sorts of birds , bunnies, dogs, chickens we looked after, as well as putting out food for the stray dogs and cats of the neighbourhood there too! That is how I grew up, what we had we shared. Animals are our friends... and we as humans have a responsibility towards them, whether they are ours or not.

Dogs and cats have always been part of my life but I have also been very lucky to visit South Africa many times (we have family there), visiting animal reserves where I had personal interactions with Dik Dik Antelopes, Ostriches, Elephants, Baby Lions, a Cheetah and saw lots of other animals on safari drives on protected reserves.​ I also used to regularly volunteer at a local animal shelter that rescues chickens, geese, rabbits, ferrets & other small animals. Even my work experience as a teen was at a horse charity that provided therapy for disabled children.

I've always had pets throughout my life, many different dog breeds, also rabbits, other little rodents and cats. My life has always been caring for either people or animals, it's just in my nature!

The start of K9 Krew & Friends...

I originally started dog walking and pet sitting by myself, as things progressed and as I started to get busier with more requests, trusted members of my family started working with me to make sure we could cater for more furry friends to offer the level of service they all deserve... the rest is history!

​

Because for me, all animals should be cared for with love and attention... I wish I could be everywhere at once, care for & save all the animals in the world but sadly that isn't possible, so this is the next best thing!
